No more bananas in the Banana Republic...

Banana prices are soaring after the hurricane earlier this year which destroyed most of the crops in North Queensland. Now bananas trade between 10 and 15 Australian dollars pr kilo! (Mellom 50 og 75 kroner pr kg!!!). There is no import of bananas here due to strict agricultural legislation. Sad story...

But, then IKEA came along and opened up a new store here in Adelaide. We were there the first week, and when we left people were lining up for more between 1/2 and 1 hour to get in! Great to see how much the Scandinavian influence is loved here. Great for me to go to the store too - felt like we were back home for a few hours.
